Adopt Gnome Shell

Adopt Gnome Shell,MBT Tunisha Schuhe

Coming sometime in late 2010 will be Gnome version 3 sometimes called Gnome Shell. It's an upgrade over Gnome 2.0 that came out in 2002. After eight years it is time for an upgrade. The direction that Gnome is going in isn't be praised by many because it is much different than expected.

In Gnome 2.0 you have your traditional panel and workspaces like in many other graphic user interfaces. While it's not revolutionary it does get the job done. Gnome offers some advantages that some light weight interfaces do not in terms of usability and ease.

Gnome Shell is a completely different animal. The panels and workspace idea are still there but just significantly different. The idea will be to have an Activities panel that will show up on the left side when pressed. This will show your recent documents,Mbt Schuhe Kamba, favorite applications,MBT Habari Sandals, application launcher by category,MBT Sini Schuhe, as well as your workspaces.

From this view you can add and take away workspaces with a plus button at the bottom of the screen. Applications can be dragged from one workspace to another in this mode. This one Activities button basically gives you an overview of everything that is active on all workspaces,Mbt Moto Stiefel, ever program open,Mbt Schuhe Flamme, and every program that could be opened all in once place.

While this seems like a good idea for many it's just a bit too advanced to do something so simplistic. Currently there are addons that one can have that will show all the workspaces. The menu button popping up by itself to launch applications seems easier than completely changing the entire screen to launch one thing.

Many distributions will probably not attempt to adopt Gnome shell until some time in 2011 so there is still quite a bit of time between now and then for changes to be made. 相关的主题文章:
